Sola - Support

Questions, bugs, or ideas. Mail me and I read every one.

master@drnkn.dev

Sola has no account, so there is nothing for me to look up on your behalf, and nothing of yours on a server for me to read. Whatever you can tell me in the mail is what I have to work with.

Before you write

Tell me what you were doing. Which screen you were on, what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead. A screenshot or a screen recording is worth a lot.

Include your iPhone model and iOS version. Both are in iOS Settings → General → About. Bugs are often specific to one combination.

Never send me your logs. I don’t need them and I don’t want a copy. Describe the shape of the problem instead — “a cycle in May shows 31 days when it should be 30” tells me everything the file would.

Common questions

Where is my data?

On your phone, in Sola’s own storage. There is no account, no server of mine, and no copy anywhere else unless you turned on iCloud backup yourself.

That is also why there is no “log in on my new phone.” Moving to a new device means either restoring it from an iPhone backup, or having turned on Sola’s iCloud backup before the switch.

How do I get my data out?

Settings → Export everything. It makes one plain CSV file on your phone and opens the share sheet. Nothing is uploaded, and the file is readable in Numbers, Excel, Google Sheets, or a text editor.

Export is free on every tier and stays available even if you stop paying. That is deliberate and it is not going to change.

I stopped paying. Did I lose everything?

No. Sola turns read-only, never locked. Every day you logged is still there to read, your trends still open, and Export everything still works. What stops is adding new logs.

Resubscribing at any time turns writing back on, with nothing lost in between.

I paid but Sola still says I haven’t

Go to Settings → Subscription → Restore purchase. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on any device signed into the same one.

If it still doesn’t appear, mail me with the Apple Account email used for the purchase.

How do I turn on iCloud backup?

Settings → iCloud backup. It is off until you turn it on, on purpose. Switched on, it copies your history into your own iCloud account — not to me, and I have no server to keep a copy on even if I wanted one.

The first backup copies years of history at once, so give it a few minutes.

I turned iCloud backup off. Is the copy gone?

Not automatically. Turning the switch off stops new backups but leaves what is already there. Remove it yourself in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud, where you can manage or delete Sola’s stored data.

Settings → Delete all data inside Sola does remove the iCloud copy along with everything on the phone.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete all data. Every log, every cycle, your settings, erased from this phone and from your iCloud backup if you have one. There is no server copy, so there is nothing left to recover. The screen offers to export a copy first, and it is worth taking.

Why don’t my notifications say anything?

Because anyone can see your lock screen. A Sola reminder reads “Something’s due in a couple of days.” and nothing more. Open the app to see what it meant.

All four reminders — period coming up, period expected today, log something, fertile window — are in Settings → Reminders, each off until you turn it on.

My period is late and Sola isn’t reacting

That is the design. A late day gets stated as a fact: how many of your recent cycles ran this long, and when Sola will widen your own predicted range. No cause speculation, no “take a test” nudge, no alert.

Sola predicts from your history rather than a 28-day textbook average, so irregular cycles are not treated as errors. When a prediction isn’t confident, it says so instead of pretending.

Where is the fertile window?

Settings → Cycle setup. It is off by default and you switch it on there. It also appears as a reminder option once you are tracking to conceive.

Can I get something to show my doctor?

Settings → Doctor summary. One page, generated on your device: last period, cycle length and variation, period length, flow, cycles recorded, what you log most, and what is missing. You choose whether to include your free-text notes.

It is a summary of what you self-reported. Sola is not a medical device and does not diagnose anything — see Terms of Use.

Can I switch between cycle, conceiving, and pregnancy?

Yes, in Settings → What you’re tracking. Switching modes changes what Sola asks you for and what it tells you, and it never deletes what you already logged.
